Privacy Policy

PlotNest works without knowing who you are. There are no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. This page lists everything that is stored or shared when you visit.

Kept in your browser

• My List. Saved titles and their status (Want to Watch or Watched) are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device unless you export them. Clearing site data removes them.
• Preferences cookie. If you pick a country or title language on Preferences, one functional cookie stores those two values for up to a year. Scripts cannot read it, and choosing the defaults deletes it.

Handled by the server

• Requests. As with any website, the server receives your IP address, the page you asked for and your browser's user-agent. The hosting provider and any network service in front of it may keep standard access logs for security and troubleshooting.
• Rate limiting. To prevent automated overuse of search, filters and Story Finder, a short-lived counter is stored under a keyed one-way hash of your IP address. The address itself is not stored, and old counters are deleted during daily maintenance.
• Search terms and Story Finder choices are sent to TMDB to fetch results and may sit briefly in PlotNest's cache, with no link to you.

Outside services your browser contacts

• TMDB's image servers (image.tmdb.org) deliver posters, backdrops, photos and service logos, so they receive your IP address and browser details when images load.
• YouTube. Title pages with a trailer show a preview image from i.ytimg.com. The player loads from youtube-nocookie.com only after you press play, at which point YouTube's privacy policy applies.
• Links to TMDB, JustWatch, IMDb or official websites take you to those sites and their own policies.

Fonts, styles and scripts are served by PlotNest itself.

Your choices

You can clear My List from its page or by deleting site data, remove the preferences cookie by restoring the defaults, and avoid YouTube by not playing trailers. PlotNest keeps no profile, so there is no personal record to request or delete beyond what your own browser holds.

PlotNest is a general-audience information site and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
