Editorial Policy

PlotNest publishes two kinds of content: data from TMDB and JustWatch, and its own writing. This policy explains how each is handled.

Data is shown, not rewritten

Synopses, credits, dates, runtimes, images and scores are displayed as TMDB provides them. PlotNest does not rewrite plot summaries, round scores up, or add details TMDB does not have. When something is missing, the page says it is missing. Scores appear only once a title has at least 25 votes, and the vote count is shown on title pages.

Original writing

PlotNest writes its page introductions, genre descriptions, list rules, Story Finder explanations and guides. This writing explains how the site works and what the data means. It does not review individual titles and makes no claims about a specific film that TMDB data does not support.

Lists and Story Finder

Every list states its rule on the page, such as a vote threshold or a date window. Story Finder moods are fixed lists of TMDB genres, published in full on the Story Finder page; the reasons under each pick come from that title's own data. No title is placed because of payment, partnership or sponsorship, and there is no personalization.

Streaming information

Where to Watch shows only official options listed by JustWatch through TMDB for the selected country. PlotNest never links to unofficial sources and does not earn commission on any service.

Corrections

Most data errors are best fixed on TMDB, where any registered member can submit an edit; PlotNest picks up accepted changes within about a day. Errors in PlotNest's own writing will be corrected once reported through the contact page, and the guide's last-revised date is updated when its substance changes.
